Awakening, II

It’s always curious to me, as I return to my daily life and obligations after a life-shifting experience, the ways in which I feel myself moving-breathing-choosing.

Time spirals and my experience can feel like weeks or months ago, when only a day has passed….and at other times, in the midst of a simple chore or daily activity, my whole body awakens with a strong felt-sense-memory, as if the past is now wholly in the present.

At other times previous habits call me into the comfort of familiarity, and I remind myself to stay awake to the changes and changing within me, to not slip back into the rhythms that existed before I knew myself ever-deeper.

Don’t Go Back To Sleep

The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you. Don’t go back to sleep.

You must ask for what you really want. Don’t go back to sleep.

People are going back and forth across the doorsill where the two worlds touch.

The door is round and open. Don’t go back to sleep.

~ Rumi ~

In this seasonally shifting time of winter into spring, what is alive in you?

What do you want to stay awake for and with?
